Introduction

This research cluster looks at the experiences of asylum seekers and refugees within the context of the wider community cohesion agenda to address the relationships and tensions that develop at key social pressure points within and between groups in areas of in-migration.

More specifically, this incorporates work on the following topics:

  • Dispersal: experiences, needs and attitudes of asylum seekers and ‘host communities'
  • Community Relations: attitudes and relations between recent migrant and host communities
  • Community development: identifying and developing good practice
