Navigation guide policy
- Navigation guides are ICAR's online 'rough guides' to issues relating to asylum and refugees in the UK.
- There are two sorts of navigation guides: key issues and refugee populations. The issues navigation guides take subjects of current concern and public and sectoral interest, and provide the user with one-stop summaries of facts and figures, key issues, and existing resources and projects to a standard format. The populations navigation guides focus on particular refugee populations in the UK, and provide a summary of the population's history of settlement in the UK, the issues that face this population, demographic data, country of origin information, and existing resources and projects to a standard format.
- They are designed to provide a rapid and effective introduction to a subject for professionals working in many different areas from the voluntary sector to the media.
- Navigation guides are authored by external researchers with specialist knowledge of the topic or written in-house by ICAR staff or interns where appropriate. The guides are edited by ICAR for content and style. The guides are also peer reviewed. The individual author retains moral rights over the guide and ICAR retains copyright of the guide as a product.
- The content of the guides is selected by the authors and ICAR staff to be useful to professionals and others interested in asylum and refugees in the UK. Opinions expressed in the data displayed are not necessarily ICAR's.
- The guides are updated at regular intervals. Each guide should state clearly when it was last updated.
- ICAR is committed to sharing and disseminating information on refugees and asylum as they affect the UK. Please tell us whether the guides meet your information needs by contacting ICAR.
