ICAR staff have written a series of briefings to assist the work of the Independent Asylum Commission (IAC), which is conducting an in-depth investigation into the operation of the asylum process. ICAR was commissioned to provide the IAC with background information about various aspects of asylum policy in the UK. These includeguides on the operation of the asylum process; the treatment of vulnerable groups; the use of detention and the process of removals. Two more briefings on appeals and destitution will be published in the autumn.
