Public attitudes to asylum
16This literature review was be used by the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) as a foundation upon which to develop a coordinated programme of activity to bring about change in the way that people in Britain think about asylum and immigration. The CRE has undertaken this ‘Asylum Attitudes Initiative’ (AAI) because of its concern with the current level of hostility towards asylum seekers and other immigrants in Britain.
Research for this review was conducted by Dr. Nissa Finney, with editorial work and additional research provided by Esme Peach, Information Officer at ICAR. The project was initially managed by Kirsteen Tait, former director of ICAR, and since her retirement, by Esme Peach.
