Dear Viewer,

Welcome to the latest edition of ICAR's newsletter, highlighting our most recent work and website resources.

Two New Briefings

ICAR briefings are succinct reference guides to the key issues relating to asylum and refugees in the UK. Two new briefings have recently been published:

Women refugees and asylum seekers in the UK
This briefing addresses four key issues relating to refugee women: the introduction of gender guidelines, female genital mutilation (FGM), the trafficking of women and asylum-seeking women in detention. The briefing complements ICAR’s Navigation Guide on refugee and asylum seeking women.

The Somali refugee community in the UK
This briefing offers readers a concise overview of the Somali refugee community in the UK. It covers information on key statistics, current legal and policy developments and several key issues including health, employment, housing and community relations. The briefing aims to complement ICAR’s report by Hermione Harris on the Somali community in the UK which provides a more detailed study of this refugee population.
